Dusting off the cobwebs
It has been a long long time since we (I/Ben) have put anything up on the blog. We here at Handsome have been insanely busy putting finishing touches on the 2010 stuff, and working on the initial stages of our 2011 product. All I have to say is we are like a fine wine and the stuff keeps getting better and better each year. What we are really excited about is that some of the products we have instore for 2011 go beyond bikes and frames. There fore they will not be under the Handsome Cycles name, instead they will fall under our newly founded Handsome Mfg. Going with this name gives us the ability to make anything under the sun that we want to, and it makes sense. Cycles is a bit too limiting for some of the new stuff we have in mind. Moving on, we are working on planning a party currently for the night of Feb. 20th. It will strategically happen the weekend of FrostBike, so as we can have a big bash with a lot of out of town folks. It is a party that is a collarboration between both us and the fine fellows at Twin Six“www.twinsix.com” it should be a blast. More info on that as it details develop. Thats all for now, sorry again for the long break from the blog. I will try to be better at it. Stay Sharp.

Late Breaking News
Emphasis on late… Got this race report from our buddy Andy, he has been making moves and shaking things up on the CX course with his Handsome Devil.
So I’ve been on the road since I raced the Handsome last weekend and haven’t had a chance to give you the low down. Although I ride and commute a crazy amount of miles it is still not the same as “race training” although I ramped up my miles and pushed the sprints and lungs allot more than usual over the last couple weeks. Anyway the bike performed Awesome, ripped though the technical stuff with no problem, tracked like a slot car, it was the soggy grass sections that put the hurting on me. My goal when I started the race was to finish in the top half of the field, halfway thru the second lap my goal was to just finish the race without going into cardiac arrest! but I toughed it out and placed a respectable (at least in my mind) 36th out of 75 riders, most of which were half my age (as I raced the Cat 4, not the masters 40+) I picked up the nick name of “Old School” on my second lap through the crowd supported sand section, don’t know if it was the riding attire and old school looking bike, or the huge wheelies I was pulling off the drop off into the sand pit, anyway I had an awesome time, I’ll being doing more races through the rest of the season and I’ll keep you guys posted and hopefully get you some better pictures of the Handsome out there mucking it up!
On a totally different note, I want to take a quick sec to pat a few people on the back that make us look so good. Last weekend in Minneapolis was The Show, which is the annual advertising award show and Handsome killed it. For those not in the ad biz, Minneapolis is a mecca for advertising we have some of the best ad agencies in the country and world. Handsome Cycles work was entered into 3 different categories and won an awards in all 3 of them. One for the Catalog, one for photography, and one for overall branding. Pretty awesome. On to the shout outs to those who make it all happen. Kent Bishop is the crazy mastermind behind our whole look, our logos, our catalogs, and even has stepped in and helped with choosing frame colors. Dave Markely is our photographer (see his link to the right) he has shot everything that is in our catalogs and on our site. He is out of this word talented. On to Zara. She is our web guru, she designed and built our website. She does an incredible job on our site, and we wouldn’t be where we are with out her. She is part of the REDBLACKBROWN design collective (see link on the right). Speaking of the REDBLACKBROWN collective, 2 more of their members have been instrumental for us. The husband and wife duo of Jessica Hall Burns and Bill Burns. They are the 2 responsible for our 2 posters we have for sale, and they are the ones who created our script Handsome logo. These two are depressingly talented. Next up Chelsea Brink, she did a lot of work for us, but unfortunately for you consumers you never really see it, she worked incredibly hard on all our dealer materials. Last but certainly not least Periscope. Periscope is one hell of an ad agency. Everyone who I just listed except for one works there, and the one who doesn’t use to. I can truly say that if it wasn’t for Periscope, me and Jesse would still be sitting in his basment saying “we should start a bike company” Thank you all. Now go back to work. Ben & Jesse
