Wheelset of the Week #2 (March 29 - April 4)

This wheelset is designed and hand built at Handsome Handbuilt Wheelhouse in Minneapolis. The WOW is discounted for the week that it is introduced. Build lead time is 5-7 days.

This week's wheelset is a very elegant and rugged road wheelset. The H+Son Archetype rim is a modern semi-aero 23mm wide, double-walled, welded, machined for rim brakes, very strong, and elegant 700c alloy rim. We've paired the Archetype with Suzue Classica sealed bearing high flange hubs, Sapim Race butted spokes, and Sapim Polyax brass nipples. The Suzue rear hub is compatible with an 8-11 speed cassette and is spaced at 130mm. With this pairing, you'll get a very durable wheelset on the lighter side that is very serviceable and will last decades. Match this with any style of rim brake.

This week's wheelset is a burly yet sensible city single speed / fixed gear classic. The H+Son TB14 rim is a vintage box construction, double-walled, double-eyelet, very strong and elegant 700c alloy rim. We've paid the TB14 with Sturmey Archer HBT30 sealed bearing high flange hubs, Sapim Race butted spokes, and DT brass nipples. The S/A rear hub can be spaced at either 130mm or 120mm to fit a huge variety of bikes. With this pairing, you'll get a very durable wheelset that isn't overly heavy and has really great ride feel for city commuting, SS Cyclocross, and just having fun. Match this with any style of rim brake.

The wheelset of the week for April 5-11, 2021 is a super light, fast and rugged wheel. These would be a great upgrade for a stock bike or as a second wheelset for your cyclocross or gravel rig. This is a great, all purpose choice for a modern disc, road, gravel, or cyclocross bike. As pictured, the DT Swiss 350 hubs feature 12x100mm front and 12x142mm rear axles, but they are available and upgradeable to many thru axle, or quick release standards. They are available in Sram XD, Shimano/Sram 11sp, and Shimano microspline. These hubs feature the venerable DT Swiss star ratchet, and can be upgraded for faster engagement. The Northern Rose disc rims are extremely durable, tubeless ready rim, while still light weight and can accept tires up to 700 x 45. These set up tubeless beautifully and feature excellent bead retention. They perform well with larger tires at low pressure, even under hard cornering, as well as 26-28mm road tires at higher pressures.  When purchasing this wheelset, please choose your axle and free hub type.
